Artist Statement

The first comic I had every read was an old Hawkman comic I found one day in an antique store. I was about fourteen at the time and I had never read a comic before other than Archie comics. From that day on I fell in love with comics, my passion and collection growing at a steady rate. My friends know me for my comic book addiction but also my love for art. This is another huge part of my life. It was not hard for me to realize that aspiring to be a comic book artist is what I would decide to do, and do my best to follow through with. I am currently a student in the Visual Arts program at York University. My class, Time Based Art: Crossing the Boundaries FA/VISA2053 required me to create a blog. For this blog I needed to think of a theme or a topic of choice. I chose women in comics, taking a look at the female writers, artists and heroines in the comic book industry. I chose this topic so I would be able to think of the women who I admire in the comic book world, and who I aspire to be. The people/characters I list on my blog is just some of the females I admire, I hope no offense comes out of anyone not listed, I am sure that I am just unknowing of this person who is not listed and their talents. I hope to post some of my art on this site, not to raise myself to the level of these talented women, but to share my art with people for feedback. Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy the site.

Week 11 part 2

Well, I'm down to my last week of school! Only 4 more days of classes left :)

The ladies featured this week are: Cynthia Martin and Elisabeth Holloway Marston!

I would like to say thanks to anyone who has been following my blog since the beginning!! I will probably keep going with this blog even though my class is ending, but it may not be as frequently. So thanks to everyone who has showed support by checking my blog out ;)

This weeks 'superhero' is MICHONNE from the Walking Dead!!! Ok...ok, so technically she's not a superhero, but I thought that she should be featured ;) Though she doesn't show up in the series until issue 19, Michonne is one of the strongest badass characters in the series.
When the group first meet Michonne she shows up with two zombies in shackles and causes no small consternation among the group, she also carries a katana in hand, showing that she can hold her own during a zombie apocalypse. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but I will leave it at Michonne is a strong, awesome character in the series The Walking Dead! To find out more about this series here's a link that will describe it quite nicely: http://hiddenrobot.com/WALKINGDEAD/story.html

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST!! MY LAST VIDEO PROJECT :D
